Lucy, once known as Polka Dot, was almost born at a gas station off of Hwy 59 S. Fortunately for Lucy an O'Malley Alley Cat volunteer and a "mystery man" who stopped to fuel up his Diesel truck, gently coerced mama cat into a crate. Evidently mama (who is now named Whiskers and shares her home with a lovely lady named Billie), had been living at the Texaco station for nearly two years. She had had a number of litters over the years, but only one kitten managed to survive the parking lot. An O'Malley volunteer managed to catch that kitten and she, too, was placed in a home.

At any rate, Whiskers, was diagnosed as being very pregnant. In fact, she was only 2 weeks away from having her kittens. The board and volunteers of O'Malley unanimously voted to allow her to have her kittens and a generous foster agreed she would foster mama and babies for as long as it took to find their "forever" homes. This story truly does have a New Beginning, since mama and all 3 of her babies found wonderful homes! Smudge and Smidge, the two boys, both went to live with a family with two beautiful girls.

As you can see, Lucy has a wonderful family of her very own. Luke is her boy and Lucy and Luke have quite a special bond. In fact, Lucy chases Luke around the house and trounces on him every chance she gets. Of course, Lucy is also rather fond of Luke's sister, Alyssa. Lucy even likes Russell, the Jack Russell Terrier and wrestles with him every chance she gets!

Although Lucy is quite active during the photo session, Mom did assure me that Lucy is quite affectionate and will curl up peacefully in Dad's lap in the evening while he is watching TV. What a wonderful New Beginning Lucy and her two brothers and mother now have to tell!

Brianna and Samantha

Just last week, Samantha was living off of Hwy 59 S with no family to call her own.

Now she's living with a wonderful family, another rescued feral kitten, and two girls of her very own.

Samantha has really taken to Brianna and follows her around the house.

Tux, the feral kitten, is still keeping his distance, but is very interested in this lovely Calico and the two should be chasing each other around the house in no time flat.

The youngest child, Emily, has decided Samantha looks more like a Cutie and can't wait to come home from school to visit with her. Samantha sometimes known as Cutie sure has a wonderful "New Beginning" to tell!

BJ was 3-weeks old when O'Malley volunteers found him behind a fast food restaurant along with 2 of his siblings. His foster had to bottle feed him and the other 2 kittens for 3 weeks and teach them all how to be kittens!

Milkie was once a 6-week old kitten trying to survive at a convenience store off of Hwy 21 W. When O'Malley volunteers rescued him, he was extremely ill and malnourished. Look at the big boy now. All dressed up and somewhere to go!

Natalie and Leah are sisters and Milkie and BJ were adopted together! What a happy tail.

Matthew and Cutie
Matthew and Cutie

The calico kitten featured here was abandoned in a fast food parking lot along with 3 of her siblings at about 3 weeks of age. Trapping the four kittens was a joint effort between the community, the Animal Shelter, The Humane Society and The O'Malley Alley Cat Organization. If we had waited any longer, Cutie most likely would not have survived. In fact, her sister, did not. We have dedicated our Rescue Stories in memory of the sweet longhaired pastel kitten that did not survive being abandoned in 25 degree weather.

Cutie's survival was touch and go. She had to be force fed and made several visits to the vet. After about a month, Cutie began thriving as she knew she had her boy waiting on her. Matthew and Cutie are inseparable. She has really taken over the household and is even chasing their full-grown Siamese mix flamepoint around the house. Cutie sleeps with her boyscount, Matthew, every night. He has even invented toys for her!

Talk about from Pitiful to Purrfect!!!
